Zianna and Hannah have shut down Newcastle coal port, abseiling from coal handling machinery, known as stacker-reclaimers. The port cannot resume operations until the pair are removed by police. This is the tenth consecutive day of disruption to Newcastle coal port and its supply rail network!

“The institutions and corporations of Australia are designed to work together to exploit natural and human resources. Climate collapse will be the last result of this system.”

“We are getting in the way of Australia, stopping the machine that has set our homes on fire and drained our rivers, that promises mass starvation and water wars.”

Hannah and Zia

Resist Australia where it matters. See you in June.

Isabelle and Callum, at 22 and 25, are two young people doing their best to fight for their lives. They entered Newcastle Coal Port, clambering over coal piles as big as 110 million tonnes, hit emergency stop buttons, and clambered up a large stacker reclaimer and hung off ropes.

“Australia does not support the majority of the population, there’s just a few greedy duds at the top that push the exploitation machine. I oppose Australia. I oppose this militarized economy that murders both onshore and offshore”

Izabelle

The Worimi and Awabakal people nutured this land for centuries. Australia is a leading player in the climate crisis. They are pushing life support systems to breaking point. Callum urges viewers to act:

“If you believe we are in a state of climate emergency, do whatever you can.”

Adrian has done it. He’s pressed the big red button! This means the world’s largest coal port is shut down until they find him and the button. This is the 9th consecutive day of disruption to the port and rail network.

Yesterday, a rail network owner, in an interview, said Blockade Australia is a sophisticated, well organised, well financed criminal group. What does that make Australia? We know who the real criminals are, they sit in boardrooms and the halls of parliament.

Adrian asks, “Who will own our clean energy future?” If we want a future that can be described in anyway as clean, we need to come together now and use sustained, direct action to shut down the destructive operations of this criminal group, Australia.

For the second time today, an activist is blocking all trains into the Port of Newcastle. Emily (24) is currently locked to a steel pipe concreted into the side of the railway line. This is the eighth day in a row that activists have caused disruption to the Newcastle Coal Port, a key piece of Australia’s extractive system.

This action is taking place on Awabakal and Worimi Country, where Australia has been desecrating the land, air, water, and life since this continent was invaded.

I’m doing this because I’m 24 and already grieving the loss of my planet. Australia is a violent and exploitative system predicated on infinite expansion and the extraction of wealth from the Earth. It is fundamentally incompatible with our planet’s life support systems

Emily

Emily is currently the 16th person to take direct action in the last eight days, halting operations on the rail line. Blockade Australia targets the pillars that uphold Australia’s exploitative systems. These actions disrupt the infrastructure that is leading to the collapse of life on earth

Claire is currently perched on a platform suspended from ropes attached to the rail line around the port of Newcastle on Awabakal and Worimi Country in Mulubinba, halting activity on a critical piece of Australia’s economic infrastructure.

This sustained resistance is causing major chaos in the supply chain, raising alarm for politicians and others who profit from the destruction of Country, land, water, and all life systems on earth.

The Earth-destroying practices of Australia and fuelling the climate and ecological crises and putting us, the Earth and our entire future at risk

Claire

Blockade Australia is organising crucial resistance to the trajectory of ecological collapse that Australia is fueling.

By targeting the infrastructureand systems that sustain the wealth and image of prosperity of this illegitimate occupation.Sustained and targeted directed action is the only way of forcing meaningful systematic change.

It’s up to us to hit the brakes.

64 year old Grandfather who stopped all coal supply to the world’s largest coal port for another 3 hours this afternoon, has been arrested and taken into police custody. He was removed from atop a full coal train by a cherry picker.

Andrew is the 14th person to blockade this supply chain in the last 7 days. This isn’t the first time Andrew has been through the watch house after taking direct action. Referencing his last arrest he says:

“Brutality to First Nations peoples continues today. In a recent visit to the watch house I noted each cell wall had a small first nations flag scratched into the paintwork. It was heart wrenching. They have been resisting the Australian colonial and extractive operation since 1770. I am here today to stand alongside them.”

Concerned for the welfare of his grandchildren, Andrew is taking serious action against the economic and political structures driving the climate crisis.

“This is a system of extraction and exploitation, in which everything, down to the smallest leaf, is commodified. It is designed to materially benefit the elite while the lands and waters are destroyed. It is this dead, soulless system which we must resist to restore humanity’s beautiful relationship with country”.

These were the words of Jonah (25), who in the dawn light this morning, climbed nine metres above the train line to a tripod erected over the rails, halting all coal into Newcastle Coal Port for three and a half hours. This is the seventh consecutive day that Blockade Australia has caused sustained and targeted disruption on Awabakal and Worimi Country in Mulubinba, so called Newcastle, home to the largest coal port in the world.

“Politics has failed. The machine will not budge without material resistance. That’s why we are here”

Jonah

This is what meaningful political action looks like. Confronting the structures in place that support the government and corporate collusion that facilitate extraction and ecological collapse.

Climbing high up into a tripod, Bell is taking a stand against a powerful entity in order to fight for a liveable future. Australia is a money hungry dominion state that will continue to destroy all of our surroundings until there is nothing left.

Our reefs, our forests, our native flora and fauna are all under threat. The climate is collapsing, and we are the ones who will have to live through it. It’s in our hands to take climate action, because those with vested interests simply wont. We will die waiting for that.

“Failing to participate in actively blockading the system means accepting the impending insurgence of natural disasters. We need to get in the way and we need everyone to help”

Bell

Get organised, get involved; only together can we resist Australia’s inaction on climate. Join us in Sydney next year, we will come together and we will blockade. Disrupt Australia where it all started to force the change we need.

Clancey and Tim have been arrested this evening after two hours suspended from Kooragang Bridge over the Hunter River, blocking trains entering the world’s biggest coal port. This is the fifth consecutive day that Blockade Australia has caused consistent and targeted disruption of the Newcastle Coal Port on Awabakal and Worimi Country.

“At this point in time, any type of protest that is merely focused on dissent is a death sentence. We need to be materially disruptive, as vested interest doesn’t shift just because you ask it to”

Clancy

The structures and institutions of Australia are designed to facilitate extraction and economic growth at the expense of this planet. There are no mechanisms for meaningful change within the existing system. We are facing societal and ecosystem collapse. Our only option is to stand in the way.

“Non-violent resistance is now a moral necessity”

Tim

Check out the ‘Take Action’ tab above, for upcoming events.

For the second time today the world’s biggest coal port has been shut down by one person. Zelda, 55, is currently on top of a coal train in a hazmat suit.

They’re shovelling the coal out of the train and back into the earth because Australia has been digging up stolen land for far too long. Australia is killing us. Action like this disrupts Australia where it matters. Action like this gives us a shot at a liveable future.

“Australia is killing our planet. Burning our forests. Poisoning our rivers and oceans. Murdering and dispossessing First peoples. Australia is the liberal criminal conspiracy that is running the world.”

Zelda

This is the eight action to block the rail since Monday.
